Summary :
|
Renaissance Secondary is applying for the CDE Comprehensive Health Education Grant. If granted approval through CDE’s internal grant approval review process, the school will engage in the activities as outlined in their application to CDE. The intent of the funding is to develop and implement local comprehensive health education programs in grades PK-12 in order to foster healthy behaviors through increasing students’ health knowledge and skills to establish and maintain their physical, emotional, social, mental, and sexual health and wellness in addition to the modification of risky behaviors. Renaissance Secondary will utilize funds to support health education efforts utilizing a portion of funding a health education teacher as well as a wellness coordinator, along with relevant professional development. Submission to CDE was through an abbreviated online application process. Upon CDE review of all incoming requests, determinations will be made of funding amounts for eligible schools. Funding is for the 23-24 school year and 3 future years depending on approval of appropriations for the grant funds. For the CDE Comprehensive Health Education Grant, Board knowledge of the grant application request by charters is required as part of the submission of the application and acceptance of grant funds by the District as the fiscal agent for the grant. CDE will be scoring, approving and awarding the grant application and funds. If the grant is awarded CDE has an extensive evaluation process in place for the use of the grant funds and related activities. Grant Request is for $30,000 for 23-24. Future years pending approval of appropriations. |
